REACH - Aurora Bulgaria

REACH

The European regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), became effective as of June 1, 2007. Compliance with REACH requires an earlier identification and a regulatory evaluation, and approval for all chemical substances to be introduced in the European market. REACH calls for the progressive substitution of the most dangerous chemicals also.

Manufacturers and importers will be required to gather information on the properties of their chemical substances and to register the information in a central database run by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki. Then all companies using the chemical substances need to check the registration with their suppliers (i.e. manufacturers, importers). Registration of the substances, based on the volumes sold and hazards, will be staged from 2010 until 2018.

European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) updates the candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) for authorisation. No substances mentioned in the candidate list are present in the final products in concentrations above 0,1%(w/w) for all masterbatches of D.Souris & Co. and INEOS LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE and PP grades –official statement by INEOS.

We recommend as follows:

  • Check if your application is covered;
  • Comply with the risk management measures prescribed in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for those grades where a MSDS is required.

We, as an Agent of Ineos Olefins & Polymers and D.Souris & Co., can pass to you on the MSDS for those grades for which it is required.

If you want to compile some REACH information, the most informative web site is ECHA.
